I bought a new controller for the frig. I found a youtube video on how to install it, but the wires on the old controller do not have clips (like on a computer cable) that can be depressed and easily removed. The new controller did not come pre-wired, so I cannot splice the wires to connect the new one. How do I install this thing????

I am not sure what you are calling a controller but ifit is an adaptive defrost board it should have come with a wiring harness.
Click on the below for additional info on the part.

The part is #297237702 and is called a controller TSD. When I had a live chat with a technician, she called it the relay.

The controller that is still in my frig has one blue and one red wire attached to it. These wires do not clips that can be used to remove them from the old controller. I do not know how to remove those wires and then attach the wires to the new controller.

Take the replacement to an electronics supply store and get a couple connectors that will fit the part's lugs. Then crimp them onto the wires.

I do not think I have ever seen one that was hard wired in.
Have you removed the old one from the compressor.
Just want to be sure that ypou are not looking at a cover.
