Maytag Bravos actuator replaced but worked for less than a week

Hi there,
I have a Maytag Bravos top loading washer - model mvwx700xw1.
A few weeks ago the machine stopped spinning and after a bit of investigation I used the built in diagnostics to read error codes F7E1 and F7E7. After a bit more Internet research, I decided to replace the actuator. I ordered the part, installed it (wow that was easy), cleared the error codes, ran the calibration, then ran the automatic test. Everything was proper. I ran 3 loads of clothes through the washer and I was proud of my achievement.
Fast forward a few days and my fiance notifies me the washer is not working again (she notices it's not spinning in sensing mode)....
I go into diagnostic mode and see error F7E1. I clear the error code, and run the automatic test cycle - it works fine. We run one load of clothes through and all is well.
Two days later the same scenario occurs except clearing the codes does nothing for my situation.
I checked the wiring harness connection to the new actuator and it's solid. Error codes are still F7E1.
Any ideas on what's going on here? It sure seems to be another actuator failure - I'm just unsure of whether I had bad luck with the replacement part or if there is another part in the washer causing the repeated actuator failure. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

This exact same thing happened to me. Brand new actuator and I only got a few loads out of it before it started messing up again. By switching it back and forth from agitate and spin in the manual diagnostic mode I can usually get it to start working again for maybe one load, sometimes not. I'm reluctant to think I got a bad actuator out of the box. I never saw any responses to your post. Did you solve this issue? Anyone? Originally Posted by: samboski  Hi there,

I also had a broken wire. Fixed it and so far everything seems to be working fine. Thank you so much!

It was actually a red wire that ran to the motor. It was broken right under the cable clamp. I believe it was making intermittent contact which is why it would work some of the time but not others. As soon as I gave it a tug the wire fully separated. Spliced it back together and we did the mountain of laundry that had piled up with out one single problem. yesterday, the washer stopped working again - no agitation, spinning, etc. It would fill with water and drain, but that's it.
Codes this time read: F7 E1
Assuming it was another broken wire, I flipped the washer forward on it's face (didn't even have to disconnect water or drain lines but I did unplug it from the power source) and discovered another broken wire. This time it was the red wire. I don't know what's going on with these machines, but this is very disappointing to see this many basic wire failures - at least they are easy (and free) to fix! I spliced the wire, flipped it back upright, and now there's a load of clothes washing.
