Symptoms: I can unplug the fridge for 30 min or so, after plugging it back in it runs fine with no issues 15 degrees in the freezer, damper to fridge side works great, ice is good, etc. After a day or so, it seems to go into a permanent defrost cycle (46 degrees in the freezer) and will not go back to normal operation without unplugging.
I know its an old unit, but trying to limp it through until I finish renovating the rest of the house.
Main board? defrost temp limiter switch?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this forum and parts from App Parts Pros have helped me with this antique and my washer/dryer as well.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Well, figured I would try the easy things first. Ordered the Defrost Limiter Thermostat and Temperature Sensor (from appliancepartspros of course) since they are the controls for the defrost cycle. Since the heater is working, I figure it is one of them or the main board.
In the mean time, I just unplug it once a day for about 20 minutes.
Hey! Maybe I just install a timer outlet (like you use for lights) to shut it off at 2AM for about 20 minutes and tell the wife I fixed it!
Will report back what I find out. Thanks again for the great forum and discount on parts.
