Hey guys nice forum you have here. Ok so I'm stumped. Our first dryer had a bad switch tested it and one of the contacts in the time was worn down where it is creating an open. So we got given a used whirlpool. The person that gave it to us said it was ok. Set it all up no heat. Proceeded to test fuses and thermostats and timer. Everything tested good. Went and bought a brand new armana ned4655ewo. Set it all up. No heat. So I went to breaker box. Tested voltage out of double pole 30a breaker ~120 on each pole. Tested receptacle same thing. Tested at dryer same thing. This is a 3 wire connection as well. So proceeded to test fuses and thermostats and heating coil. All test out correctly. Timer is testing good as well.....any idea on what the issue is here. I am getting really frustrated with this. All dryer would start and run great. Just no heat. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

The way I am testing voltage is black probe to neutral and red probe to each hot wire. Same with breaker. Black probe to where all the white wires are connected and red probe to both of the pole on the breaker. The breaker knobs are tied together with a metal bracket that keeps one from tripping without the other

See the attachment for the wiring diagram.
It is the 240 that is used for the heating coil so you have to check from L1 (black) to L2 (red).
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the wall receptacle L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! |
