The washer gets in between the light wash and rinse and soak cycle and will not completely drain and only making a humming sound. There is still soapy water in the drum. To get it to drain it has to be placed in the drain and spin cycle to get the water out and then will have to go back to the wash cycle to get it to rinse the clothes. This is for my mother-in-law so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Take off the front panel and see if you have an error code which will be a blinking light on the motor. Here is a site that will tell you how to interpret the codes. First try a reset, occasionally that is all that is needed.

When I opened the front panel I'm able to see the motor, but i do not see a location for an error code. I even found the manual online, but it doesn't list any error codes either. If you would like a picture of the washer with the front panel off I will be glad to send one.

How do you reset the washer?

Thanks!

If there is no blinking light or fixed light on the motor then it is likely the motor/inverter is bad in which case it is an expensive part and replacing the machine might be the better move. See if you can get a basic top loader with no electronics on sale.
