My wife found this fridge locally. A couple was replacing all of their appliances with stainless steel. It was perfect for us and figured it would be better than the 20 year old fridge we have now, that still works fine.
Not knowing any better we laid it on it's back to haul it home. It was like that for maybe 20 min. We moved the old fridge out and put this one in its place. There was a good 3 hour span between standing it up and plugging it in. Once plugged in the compressor will run for 20-30 seconds and shut off. It does this every 10 min or so. It never gets cool.
I am not sure if laying it on its back would cause this or if it was like that to begin with. The people claim it worked well, so who knows. I talked to a few local repair shops and they said it was junk since I laid it on its back and turned it on again. I even asked one if I could have the compressor replaced, his response was "How could we get all the oil and debris out of the lines that went in there when we tipped it?" I thought that seemed strange since I saw a ton of you-tube videos on compressors being replaced and them using a can of somthing to flush the lines before they put it together, similar to what is used to clean out a transmission cooler in a car if the transmission is replaced.
I am mainly asking if this is a problem that is from hauling it like that or could have been like that to begin with. I will pay to have a compressor installed if I can find someone who will do it. It is still cheaper than a new fridge and this thing is perfect for our needs.
