My dryer will run and produce heat for about 5 minutes then it will stop producing heat.
I have testing everything I can find on it to test for continuity and it all tests fine, including the voltage at the outlet and the breaker.
I'm stumped. Any ideas?

A model number may be helpful here. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.comWhen you say that the voltage is good, have you checked it at the terminal strip in the unit when it shuts the heat off? Be very very careful if you do this as 240 volts is lethal!!! Does opening the door (stopping it) and then restarting get it to heat again right away? Or do you have to wait for the unit to cool down befpore it will provide heat. |

Model is MDE6400AYQ
I tested the terminal strip and it tests fine.
The dryer seems to produce no heat now. Before it would seem to need to sit for awhile then it would work for a bit. Opening and closing the door did not matter. It seems like it has gradually stopped producing heat.
Could it be the timer switch? I had tested it too and seemed fine. I've ran out of ideas. And my wife is getting desperate for a dryer.

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag MDE6400AYQ Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comBelow is a link to a manual. By looking at the heat option switch you should be abe to figure out which unit in the manual is the closest match. You will have to join the site and be logged in to be able to download it. http://appliancejunk.com...e&id=67;t=1449053929Since you have the 240 volts there must be an open somewhere in the heater circuit. Set the unit to timed dry mid scale of a heating cycle. Unplug it and then work your way back through the heater circuit to find the open. |
