This dryer might just need a new latch. That's what our condo handyman suggested, after he confirmed that the electricity is working.

We bought it used three years ago. Since then it's given us no problems. But now it won't start: it doesn't even make a sound. I think the upper right corner is missing a latch: UserPostedImage

Should I (a completely un-handy inexperienced person) try to do the repair myself? If so, does anyone know of any useful webpages or videos I could look at? Thanks.

I do not think you need a latch which is at the center top of the door and just holds the door closed.

Looks like you need at minimum the door switch actuator I would replace the kit.
