My mom purchased a lid switch for a whirlpool washing machine and the seller at the hardware store says we were NOT suppose to take off the back of the washing machine. Is this possible? Who else would we change the lid switch?

it is not absolutely necessary to remove cabinet .. but it would make it easier for most people who are not familiar with changing a lid switch ..
