We have a Maytag Bravos MCT dryer model #MEDB850WR0 that appears to be working. The drum rolls, air is flowing out of the exhaust pipe, but the air is not heated so clothes are not getting dry. No error codes--just unheated air flow.

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag MEDB850WR0 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSince you mention error codes I assume that you have the tech sheet. First check the power. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! |

The electrical checks out okay. The voltage at the plug is fine and the circuit breaker has not been tripped.
What should our next course of action be?

Next unplug the unit and check the thermal cut-off and high Limit thermostat with a meter both should be 0 ohms. Then check the heater, it should be around 10 ohms.
If the thermal cut-off is blown get back to me as there are other checks to be done before replacing it. |
