No matter what is selected, (Delicates, Knits, Permanent Press, Heavy), the temperature on this gas Whirlpool Ultimate Care clothes dryer (Model LGR8848EQ3) is always the same (125-160 Fahrenheit). It does, however, cool down in the final 10 minutes of timed drying. A new thermostat made no difference. What needs to be replaced? What do I need to troubleshoot?

Well, 125-160 is the normal range of temperatures so I don't understand the problem. Measuring the temperature at the dryer exhaust duct, what are the temperatures for each setting of the temp switch? You have to wait a few minutes for the temps to settle as the overall temp is achieved by cycling the burner on/off at different duty cycles for each temp setting.

My husband turned the dryer on, selected a setting and tested the temperature at the dryer duct several times. He repeated this for each setting and got temperatures ranging from 125-160 for each setting while the burner cycled on and off. I would think, at the very least, the delicates and knits cycles should not get as hot as 160, right?
