We have an upright GE freezer which stopped cooling in May so we call the repair man and he said it needed to be charged with Freon that had some kind of sealant in it--this cost us $150.00. Two months later it stopped cooling again and frankly we're tired of paying someone to come out. It is in excellent condition as far as appearance. My hubby is handy and wants to fix it if he can. Any suggestions? Help!!

Is the compressor running all the time.

Usually you can hear it but you should also be able to feel it vibrating.
If yes then it is still a sealed system problem (the fix did not work) and just adding freon will not solve the problem.

Probably best to junk the unit.
