I have done all the reading and suggestions and cannot figure out why my refrigerator doesn't seem to be getting that cold. It is cool, but I think it can be colder. Freezer is working fine. I have a very simple refrigerator with the freezer on top. Currently I don't have food in the freezer and very little in the refrigerator such as butter which does appear to be okay and not melting and milk, which is cool temperature wise but not cold.
I have the refrigerator setting at the coldest (5) and the freezer setting at 2 out of 5 (Five being the coldest.)
I have done the following:
1) Verify the fan in freezer is working and blowing out cold air
2) Verify defrost timer is working
3) Verify there's no frost build up on the coils in back of freezer
4) Verify that the vents going down to the refrigerator are not blocked. I can feel cold flowing down. Not a strong flow though.
5) Verify the cold setting switch in the refrigerator is working
6) Cleaned the coils on the bottom of refrigerator
7) applied Vaseline to the refrigerator and freezer seals to ensure a good seal
8) Verified the damper at back of refrigerator is working properly and is open
For such a simple refrigerator, I would think the issue is obvious, but for the life of me I can't find any issues. It just doesn't seem like the flow down to the refrigerator is that great, but I don't know if it ever has been and could just be the nature of the design. Fan pushes out good flow, so I don't thing the fan is turning slower or going bad.
Appreciate any other suggestions

[COLOR="Blue"]3) Verify there's no frost build up on the coils in back of freezer[/COLOR] But did they have an even coating of frost on them? If there is frost in only one area usually where the freon enters the coils then you have a sealed system problem.
Measure the temperature in the freezer with a thermometer. It should be between 0 and 5 degrees F. The fresh food side also depends on the freezer temperature.
Measure the temperature on a middle shelf in the fresh food compartment. It should be around 38 degrees F. |

Thanks. No frost what so ever was on the coils. I need to get a thermometer to measure the temps. Refrigerator seems to be acceptable for now, but we'll see. I put most of the food back in both freezer and refrigerator for now. Time will tell.
