I have an older Viking range where none of the current oven functions are working. The range/oven combo is a hybrid model where the oven functions on electricity and the range burners function on natural gas. Although I’m currently employed in medical software I have a background in electrical engineering from my time in the military. I have a Fluke DMM and I am looking for some direction on this repair.

Here is some basic information for troubleshooting purposes:

• The clean light is always illuminated when any baking function is selected.
• When the left novice turn to bake the clean light illuminates, when you turn the right knob for temperature selection I hear a buzzing sound almost as if there is a failed (or failing) relay somewhere. The buzzing lasts for about .5 seconds and then goes away.
• After a basic function is selected with the left knob and a temperature selected with the right after about 30 seconds the oven door locks and cannot be opened. The right indicator light representing temperature never illuminates.
• After following the above steps and the door has locked none of the heating elements within the oven get hot.
Recently while playing with the knobs the oven actually turned on and got hot, however the door locked itself and would not open until I turned off the oven.

Thank you in advance for any direction on this repair. I would love to get this fixed as soon as possible, but there is no way I’m paying $200 for a Viking tech to come and take a look at it.
