I was cleaning my fridge for the first time and found this hole, it looks like something used to be in there, like a fan possibly?

See attached pictures.

Is this ok, do I need to repair it somehow, it seems to be working fine.

If this is in the lower part of the fridge, then it may be an air vent, return air, etc, without the cover on it. It will run fine without the grill cover on it.
