Please see the attachment for your wiring diagram.

On the motor there are two centrifugal switches. They activate when the motor gets close to operating speed.
One of them switches in the heating element.

The other does two things.

It switches out the start winding which would overheat the motor if left in circuit.

It also [provides a circuit path around the start switch which lets ypu release the switch and this keeps the motor running.

Perhaps there is a problem with the switch or a loose/bad wire.
