Machine starts to spin and then stops. Agitation and everything else works. Tried typical trouble shooting such as opening and closing lid 6 times. Checked the hose and no blockage. Thanks.

Since it does start to spin this sounds like a timer issue, although check the lid switch which may be cutting out on you for some reason. If you decide to replace the timer and buy from this site you can return the part if it does not fix the problem.

Thank you. Now it won't spin at all. I hear a light whirling sound though at the beginning of the cycle as if the drum is trying to spin. :(

That sound may be the electric pump, but anyway you should take the front panel off, which you can do by inserting a thin bladed screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the top and front near the edges to release the clips that hold the front panel on. Then set the machine to spin and see if the motor is turning. If not, the timer may be the issue.

Thanks, I will try that. I think there are some screws that require an Allen wrench but I will try and get it open to check. Thanks again.

Is it possible to get a quote on a timer for this model? Just curious what I'm facing price-wise if that's the issue :)

Never mind, I actually just saw where to locate and look up prices for parts on this site. Thanks.

So I got the lid open and turned on the spin function in every cycle. The motor appears to be running - no spinning still and I do hear a light clicking sound.
Ideas?

If the pulley on the transmission shaft is turning freely this suggests your problem is with the transmission. In this case I think a new basic top loader will be a better decision then attempting to fix this one.
