Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 7/4/2015(UTC) Posts: 3		I have a GE Washer. Top loader:WHRE5260E1WW. After water fill cycle finishes the machine goes into spin mode. The agitator seems very loose. When I turn it by hand it moves freely in one direction and with some resistance which I can easily break into the other. There is no attempt by the machine to reverse direction for agitation. From what I have read this could be a gearbox problem. What is the best way to diagnose the problem(s)?

In one direction, the entire transmission should rotate (spin mode), in the other direction (agitation mode), the transmission should not move. If it does, then the transmission is bad. Eric

If the motor is not reversing direction for agitation, then the control board is bad. The motor goes in one direction for spin and the other for agitation. You can use the tech sheet that's inside the control panel and it will tell you how to enter service mode and force the washer into agitate or spin (no water fill required). Eric

I have had the control panel out but did not see the tech sheet (nor did I really look for it). Is there a pdf version of it available also just in case it I can't find it? Stefan
