Just got up to let the dogs out and was surprised by water on the floor. Doesn't seem to be a constant thing but here's my notes: -Doesn't seem to ongoing. -majority of water was in front of unit. -when I rolled it out there was a couple spots with water near the back. -compressor running and hot to touch. Normal? -fan running. Kinda dusty on the cage. It gets vacuumed a few times a year back there, but it is hard to get that cage good. Is there a preferred way to clean that? -there was a layer of ice on bottom of freezer compartment. Right up to the door. In fact, thinking about it right now, there was water on the bottom vent cover. right under the doors. -several days ago, the fridge door was not fully closed for a few hours.
Any help or thought would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi.
Your case sounds like a frozen condensation drain 101. It's located inside the freezer and if you will remove all the shelfs and the drawers and the rear cover panel you will be able to see the drain opening size a bit smaller then a quarter covered with a sheet of ice. Use a small steamer, hot water, a wire hanger, a turkey baster and a lot of patience to clear the drain. Be careful not to damage the rubber drain hose. Also if you noticed that the door was open for a while defrost the fridge for 24 hours.
Good luck. Please keep us posted of the results.
Thank you,
Simon.

Interestingly, The drain hole is clear. But Ice has built up in the little valley that it drains. I guess when it defrosts, water refreezes before it can drain out. Why might that be?
