Dryer dries great but it makes an awful racquet (squealing Noise). I have replaced the front tumbler seal and it was better for a couple of days and now it is worse than ever. When I had it apart the last time I noticed the belt is fine but I wonder if I should have replaced the rear seal as well and the tumbler wheels. I don't want to just buy parts. I was hoping you could give some insight as to what I need to purchase other than a "new" dryer. Thank you in advance for your input, I appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Cfoley

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDE9806AYW | AppliancePartsPros.comYou will have to try and find the location (back, front etc) of the squeal which sometimes can be very difficult. Sometimes the frequency is a help if it high pitched this is usually from something that is moving fast like the motor or the idler wheel or the blower wheel. Mid frequency the rear rollers. Lower frequency the rear drum glides. When you changed the seal did you check the front glides for wear? Did you spin the motor with the belt off? If it squeaks, it will squeal when running. Check the idler and rear rollers, bearings and shafts for wear. If OK clean them and put a drop of oil on them. |

Thanks for getting back to me. The dryer runs great and does not make any noise when running empty. When I had it apart to replace the front seal I put a shot of WD40 on the rear wheels, which was probably a mistake. When a load of wet towels or sheets are put in the dryer that is when the terrible squeal starts and is almost unbearable. I hope that information helps as it is almost impossible to tell you where the squeal is coming from. It is so loud that it resonates throughout the machine. I'm thinking rear wheels and bearings but then I did not know about the "guides you mentioned. Thanks again for your help and I look forward to your reply.

Cannot be of much more help.
If the WD40 did quiet it down for a while and you only put it on the rear wheels then they would be a prime suspect.
FYI WD40 is a crappy lubricant better off with 3in1 or any straight oil. |

That is what I was thinking as far as the wheels go. Should I replace the bearings also?
Thanks,

The bearing is part of the roller, see Item 24 in the "Tumbler" section.
Just check the shafts and the front/back washers to make sure they are not worn. You will need a pair of Cir (sir) clip pliers to remove the retaining clips.
I would catch up on the wash and then open it up check everything then get the parts and do it all at once. Also a good idea to clean/check the blower wheel and your vent system. |

Opened it up and ordered 2 rollers and 1 shaft, the other one is fine, along with a belt. Thanks again for all your input I appreciate it.
