Washer doesnt spin until you lift lid and close again

I just replaced the gearcase, brake/drive tube assembly, and clutch band ring. Everything seems (or sounds) normal. I think it was a successful repair... but now. The tub wont spin at first... the water is draining out but no spin, then I open lid switch and close again and the spin behaves normally.
More specifically... Ive got the control panel flipped up and the lid switch re-routed. Okay so then I should say... the clothes agitate as normal, then when its time for the spin cycle... everything stops (for safety of course) and I walk over to the lid switch and activate, then comes this problem... drain, but no spin. Im holding the lid switch for 10 sec or so(even for 1 second or so) and then let go of switch and press again. It spins up normally with healthy acceleration.
At one point, I can't specifically say when. The darn thing started to spin with the lid switch up!!!! Im thinking this is a logic issue? I havent figured out the weird sequence of press/release lid switch to make it do this, but all-and-all, I can tinker a normal wash cycle. OR could this be related to clutch/drive cam/drive tube stuff? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It is operating normally. It's supposed to drain for a full 2 minutes without spinning. Then the motor should stop and then start again. This takes the transmission out of neutral at which point it should start spinning while continuing to drain.

Youre correct! I cant explain the behaviors of spinning while the lid is up, but when I left it alone, with a clamp on the lid switch, it did as you said. yeeeaaahhhh I knew it all along ("snarf")... Anyhow, with the new trans and drive tube assembly, it works great! Thanks.
