Our dryer recently has an issue with staying on once the start button is released. You can hold the button down and the dryer will heat and stay on, which tells me that the motor and heating portion of the dryer still works. But what ever the start button triggers to tell the motor to run wont stay engaged. Any help would be appreciated. I am somewhat tech savy, so if there is a troubleshoot trick I am willing to try. Thanks!

Hi, Nicholas.

In your case it's most likely the electronic control board which is located inside the control panel. But it also could be the motor. To determine that unplug the dryer, open the control panel and locate the motor power relay. There are two relays alike, you need to find the one with two pink and two blue wires. The pink wires are connected to the control board and carrying 48 Volts DC. Be careful not to touch blue wires, they are carrying 120 Volts. Attach each probe of your multimeter set for Volts to each of the two terminals of the motor relay. Plug the dryer in and push and release the start button. If you read 48 Volts DC with the button pushed and no voltage when it's released - the control board is bad. If the 48 volts still there with the button released - the motor is bad.

Here is the:

Control board Part number: AP4319168
Part number: AP4319168

Drive motor Part number: AP3094233
Part number: AP3094233

Click on the part to watch the repair help video. Please, let us know of the results.

Thanks,

Simon.
