Hello all. I purchased a maytag mvwc415ew yesterday and ran it through a test wash last night. It makes a pretty loud and very annoying noise when agitating. You can hear it on this youtube video:

I checked the nut that holds the plastic wheel for the belt and it is tight. Any thoughts? Or is that just how they are supposed to sound? I sure hope that I don't have to put up with that noise every time we wash clothes.

Hi, josh22.

Because your washer is 'just from the oven", you should call Whirlpool customer service and complain about the noise. See what they will tell you. The noise seams to be a bit excessive. Since you already checked the drive pulley put a tiny squirt of WD40 on the belt, that may help.

Thanks and good luck.

Simon.

Thanks Simon. My wife did call and talk to them and they told her it was normal. I can't believe they would design and sell a machine that noisy. Even with the laundry door closed, we can hear the washer throughout the main floor of the house.

Would the WD40 make the belt slip?

Just a tiny bit.

Thanks.

Delivered at 11:20 a.m. and by 12:00 p.m. I had already called Lowe's to come pick it up! This washer is so loud, I can't believe it. It is completely inconceivable to me that Maytag would actually manufacture and sell a product so noisy.

Extremely disappointing...
