Hi, I have had a longstanding problem with this front-loading GE washer where it sometimes gives me a CLn error code when I try to run the washer. In every case where I ran it anyway, the washer overflowed with soap suds everywhere and some water. In general, however, if I open the door, cycle the power, and try again, the error msg does not recur. In that case, the washer works fine. Today I tried it again with the error code and got the mess again. This time I was able to see that the soap suds mess was coming from the back of the washer from an outlet of some sort near the top. Does anybody know what the error code means? All I can find are suggestions that it refers to Child Lock, but that doesn't make sense in this context. Is there some sort of clog somewhere? Why would this leak only occur when I get the error msg and not at other times? P.S. I am attaching a picture of the outlet that suds overflow from. Thanks, in advance, for any help. I am surprised that no one responded at all to this one, but no matter. I think I know what was going on.
After I found the manual, I noticed that CLn is what the display reads when one chooses the BasketClean option, which is pretty close to the Start button. This washer's control panel seems cheaply made and I have noticed that other buttons sometimes get activated when I press hard on a different button (other than those that get activated). Sometimes, I have to press hard because the button doesn't activate.
The BasketClean option is for cleaning the washer with nothing in it save a cup of bleach. So, most likely it has a different wash cycle that creates too many soap suds when detergent and clothing are put in like a normal wash. Those suds and water must get pushed out when it gets to be too much inside.
I also cleaned out some filter in the bottom, which was pretty stinky, but not that clogged overall.
So, I just have to be careful about not pressing too hard when I choose Start. Hope that helps anyone who may have this problem, as well.

I have had the identical problem with my GE front load machine. The control panel has a mind of its own. I'll press the 'second rinse' button and the 'prewash' button lights up instead. I'll choose a rinse speed and another speed lights up. Fun stuff. 'Been getting the CLn light a lot lately. I've never washed the load when it is displayed as I've always reset the power button every time until it displays the correct operation (and yes, it does have the basket clean feature right next to the power button)
