I just finished replacing the drain pump and now when I start a cycle the drain pump starts running and nothing else happens. Not a happy DIY'er.

See what happens if you disconnect the new pump and try to operate the machine. It may be that the new pump is bad and causing the problem or it may be that the control unit is bad in which case its prohibitive cost means replacing the machine is the better option.

It did end up being the control unit. There were a couple of diodes that looked like they were fried.
