I was taking the front panel off the Bosch dishwasher.. and as soon as the screws were out and before I even tried to pull the front panel off, two black plastic pices (looks like a spacer of some sort) fell out of the bottom.

I'm trying to put the front panel back together, but since the black spacers fell out even before I had a chance to look inside, I have no clue where and how these two pieces were situated inside the panel.

can any kind soul help?

Ah. Never mind. Figured it out myself. For those interested, the black door guard slips over the lower bracket that is part of the hinge assembly. you align the square notch on the bracket with the square tab on the door guard.

looking at the way it is in right now, there is no way it would have slipped out if it were installed correctly. I suspect when it got serviced before (failed valve replacement) the service tech probably didn't install it correctly. grrrr...

My wife tells me "there's a screw on the floor in front of the dishwasher."

Ah! it is one of the screws intended to hold on the front decorative panel. Guess it just worked itself loose. I'll just put it back in ... hmm, the panel won't pull up flush to the door frame.

Reach in ... feel something loose. Gotta take off the whole panel to see what it is.

OK, it's this black plastic thing. Oh, there're two. I wonder where they go?

Try, ponder, try again - no luck.

Start searching the Internet.

5 minutes later, found this thread. 1 minute later - AH! Of course, yes, I see

:D

I have the same problem trying to figure out how to put the 2 plastic spacers. When I removed the front cover they dropped out before I knew where they came from. I see the response but still cannot figure it out. My dishwasher is a Bosch SHU9916UC/U12. I would love to see the diagram from a manual. I called bosch and they could not help because it is more than 10 years old. Thanks in advance for any clarity on it.

Helped a TON... Well, once I figured out what the dog was chewing on across the room and pulled a weird black thing out of his mouth. I wondered why there was just one thing (looked like a leg or foot thing to me) laying on the floor after taking the front panel off...
