A service tech told me I needed a new thermostat for my gas Roper stove that was made in the early 70's but they were no longer made and he had no idea where to find one. It has a standing pilot for the oven that doesn't react at all when the dial is turned on. After searching the parts sites for a replacement with no luck I was able to find a rebuild site that would rebuild it - Robertshaw VC 4700 041 - for $218.00 plus shipping. No thanks. I was able to find a new old stock replacement on ******** in the original packaging. After installing it I turned it on and observed the pilot. Nothing. It's not getting the message. Is my new old thermostat bad also, are is it something else? This is a very simple, pre-electronic machine.
