So you are getting water into the ice maker if you switch the lines? If so, it's not a frozen line. On my Amana side by side the water line that goes into the ice maker (large rubber line that goes from the back wall of the freezer down to the ice maker) has frozen up a few times, but it's easy to check....just squeeze the line and you can tell if it's frozen solid or not.

I already checked the line and yes, the "fill tube" inside the freezer was frozen solid. I thawed that out and reconnected everything so i thought that maybe something was still frozen...i disconnected the tube on the outside of the freezer (top back) and hooked a straw up to where the tube in the back had been previously...and was able to blow air and water manually through. and the valve works because it pushes water up the line on the back of the freeze when its not connected at the top...but as soon as i hook it back in at the top...it stops pushing water up..?

any ideas?

Ok. New information. I have not messed with this thing since Monday. But i hooked everything back up and had it all set normally. Apparently...it made some ice, because there was probably one batch of ice in the bin, and i had not noticed it before. So i took it apart again, and realized that the fill tube is frozen solid again...so aparently water is flowing and/or it is calling for water....and ideas on what to do now? Does this mean that the valve is bad?

The water inlet valve is leaking. Replacing it will stop the fill tube from filling with water and freezing.

Unless I am wrong, the water will not fill the icemaker tray until the icemaker itself calls for water at the end of an icemaking cycle. You say it make ice but did not eject those cubes into the bin. If the motor doesn't clear the ice and rake it out of the tray into the bin then that could explain why you are having a problem. Subsequest cucles will try to refill an already full icemaker. As that water builds up the inlet tube will freeze. Is that motor/rake working??

Hard to say, You may need to swap the ends (electrical) to the water and Ice maker to ensure that it is not a valve problem, and then replace the icemaker if it is not.
