GE Profile Top Load Washer does not spin or agitate. We are roughly 6 months out of warranty. Figures...

Model WPRE8150K2WT

When attempting to use the washer, the unit fills and drains correctly at the prescribed times during the cycle. It does not agitate or spin however. Putting the washer into field test, shows that the hot and cold valves are working correctly, and the pump is working correctly, but low agitate, high agitate and spin are not.

Led light on motor assembly flashes 1 pulse every second – doesn’t appear to be throwing an error code. I’ve tried the motor reset by unplugging, and opening and closing the lid 6-8 times in the first 30 seconds.

Belt appears to be tight. Pully and shaft can be rotated by hand with moderate force, so it doesn’t appear to be a loose or worn belt, or a seized motor.

Shifter coil reads at 98 Ohm.

Magnetic lid switch reads continuity when lid closed, and Open when lid is up.

In field spin test, I get 12 VDC across the violet, and the black, blue, yellow and red leads.

Fuse test shows continuity.

I’m at a loss – only thing I haven’t tried is timer control, but I suspect that the washer not going into low agitate, high agitate or spin is either a logic board or motor issue.

Any assistance or tips would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to have to buy a new washer if there is something I can do to fix this.

I was afraid of that. Thank you. Hard decision to make. Replace motor or buy new washer.

Buy a Speed Queen. Expensive, $800-$900 but they are the only decent top loader left on the market. Well built in the U.S., good warranty, great customer support.

I will look for a local dealer. Unless you ship.

Thank you again.
