Hello. My Samsung dryer quit heating last week and I have diagnosed the problem as a burnt out relay on the main control board. When the relay had a meltdown the wiring harness connector fused to the relay. Can I simply cut the wire back approx 1 inch to get all the burnt insulation out and put a new female terminal on it and hook it back up without the plastic connector? I'm assuming the purpose of the connector is twofold 1) to make assembly faster and 2) most importantly ensure the wires won't accidentally cross and arc.

Understanding I need a new control board which is ordered and in transit:

What are the suggestions? I want to do this safely and correctly but really don't want to buy a new harness just for one connector..

Thanks in advanced.

Yes, you can cut the wire back but you must keep cutting until you find perfectly clean wire strands with no darkened color at all. You can splice a new piece of wire using a butt connector and the proper crimp tool if the wire is too short by the time you find good wire strands.
