Happy Mother's Day

The most likely cause of your problem, (and the solution that has no cost) is that something is preventing your discharge system from emptying the tub. There is probably something blocking the line, or something in the pump.

Here is the service manual (it's what Maytag lists as the manual even though it does not state it is for your model). Follow the instructions to remove and clean the pump and you should be ok. If not, let us know.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Well, darn. Sorry that didn't work out.

I was hoping for the easy repair, cost free to you and makes me look like a hero. But the good news is that now with the new information we almost certainly know what the problem is.

But now I have to give you the bad news.

Here is what is likely happened. The door lock mechanism, specifically a part called a wax motor has partly failed. This has caused the components on your board to fail. This is almost a universal problem with your model machine.

To fix this you need

1. A new wax motor. This must be done to prevent a repetition.

2. Either a new board, or replacement of the failed resistors on your existing board. Replacing the resistors is easy and cheap, but if you are not experienced in this you will need someone who is good at rebuilding boards. Also, you should know the jury is still out on whether or not just replacing the resistors will work long term. It may or it may not.

Unfortunately, replacing the entire board is expensive, but if you replace the wax motor and the board your problem should be solved.

Good luck, sorry for bad news and hope it turns out well for you. Let us know how you resolve it.

Actually, it is the failure of the wax motor that causes the failure on the board. These wax motors have been redesigned and so you should not have this problem going forward.

You can get parts diagrams and part numbers by clicking on your model number on this post which will send you to the APP parts site. (you can go to any parts site, or a local appliance parts supplier. If you have a good parts supplier in your community who will help you with the repair, I would visit them even if they are more expensive. Just so you know the people who answer the forums are not associated with APP, and our goal is to help you make your repair, not sell APP parts).

If you buy from APP I would call them and make certain you are getting the correct parts and also ask them for any suggestions about the repair. The service manual you already have will take you through the steps to change out the jparts.

The wax motor is inexpensive, the board another matter.

Remember too, that while it is highly probable that this will repair your washer I cannot guarantee it, so there is some risk involved here, but given your description I am fairly confident this repair will take care of things.

Good luck, post any questions and let us know how it goes.
