Unit stopped heating the water.

Checked continuity on the heating element and it passed. no chips breaks etc or flaking visible. connections look brand new.

checked thermostat and it showed .1 for continuity test however i couldnt find reliable data for this so i bought a new one.

installed the new one and still no heat. 2 questions

1) the thermostat is a passthrough so it doesnt matter what wire is connected to what side correct?

2) what is my next step to try and fix the no heat problem?

dishwashers runs through all cycles just fine. just not heating to dry or maintain water temp.

My research is pointing me toward the control board however im hesitant to spend another $100

many many thanks for any help.
