In heat mode the dryer quits after about a minute. Already cleaned out lint and disconnected vent. Motor and everything quits. In Air only mode will run indefinitely. Doesn't look like a thermostat from the wiring diagram. Any ideas?

Your model number looks incomplete.
Kenmore numbers are usually 3 digits, a period and an additional 8 digits |

Here are your parts Parts for Kenmore Dryer 11066902691 - AppliancePartsPros.comIf you go to the Sears site they have actual part breakdown diagrams. Unfortunately they do not share these with other vendors. I am assuming that it shuts down whether or not there are clothes in the dryer and this also applies to when it keeps running in air only. Can the dryer be re-start immediately after is shuts off? If you have to wait some time before it will start again then the motor is probably overheating. It then trips it's internal thermal protect and you have to wait for the motor to cool down and the protect to reset before it will start again. Check to see if hot air is blowing onto the motor. |

Thanks Denman. As you mentioned the dryer will not restart right away. I have ordered a replacement motor. Thank you.

The saga continues. After replacing the motor (at some expense), we got some heat--until the Thermal Cutoff blew out. Replaced the Thermal cutoff and the associated Thermostat. Now we are back to the original problem. Dryer runs for about a minute and then shuts down. Won't restart for about one minute and then will restart on Air Only. How can hot air get to the motor? Ductwork is connected to back plenum. Help! pleassssse.

Usually it blows out of the blower and then back onto the motor.
I am assuming that the unit does this when it is disconnected from the vent system as per your first post.
Is this correct?
I am also assuming that this unit has worked correctly for you at this location in the past.
Is this correct?
Have you rotated the drum manually in the correct direction to be sure that it is not putting too much drag on the motor.
It should turn fairly easily.
You may want to try this on a couple other units just to get a feel for it. |

When it kicked off last night after only a minute, I was flabbergasted. I tried it again a couple hours later and it completed a 40 minute, heated cycle with no kickouts.????? Don't know if it will run continuously when we need to wash again.
Nope-no longer disconnected from the vent pipe. I'll try disconnecting again.
I've cleaned both ends of the pipe, which is about 15 feed long with some bends. When dryer is running I have what seems to be significant heat/air coming out. Perhaps I will try to run my plumbing snake through it and pull a brush back through, just in case there is an obstruction.
It's been at this location and vent pipe for 15 years, doing fine.
I've turned the drum and it seems "heavy" to push, although smooth. I'll check some other dryers tomorrow when I'm in town.
