The typical GE dryer uses a center mount bearing at the rear of the drum and it is not a sealed bearing. Some of these get squeaky when they are in use a long time. A small amount of lube can be used on the bearing which is put in the cup section before the drum is installed. I use a high temp wheel bearing grease but not too much. Previously I said it was a sealed bearing but at least the old units are not sealed.

I was working on a Frigidaire electric dryer model number GLER341AS1 that had a bad heating coil . In checking the parts cost it turned out to be too expensive to repair so I scrapped the unit after taking out any usable parts. The motor was OK and I attempted to use the motor in a Amana electric dryer model ALE230RAW. It would fit in the support cradle area but much to my disappointment I found out that the motor shaft threaded end was slightly different between these two makes of dryers. The thread on the end of the shaft is screwed into the plastic blower wheel. The diameter of the thread on the shaft is the same but the thread pitch is different. Can anyone reading this provide info on the difference between the thread on the end of the motor shafts between these makes of dryers ? Also if anyone has attempted to make a blower wheel fit by changing the thread setup perhaps by using a thread insert ? I am always attempting to salvage parts and would like to see if it has been done.

I gave up on that approach and honestly don't remember that unit. That was about 50 dryers back since I buy and sell about one or two a week. Frigidaire and GE are not units I like to work on .

With so many moving parts and water seals, dishwashers can break or leak in a lot of places and damage the floor underneath. To simulate a dishwasher disaster, we had a tanker truck flood our dishwasher with more than 800 gallons of water.
