Hello.
The soap door/latch doesn't open during the wash cycle of my dishwasher. When the wash is over, I open the door and the detergent compartment latch is still closed with soap inside. I've noticed if I overfill the compartment and loosely close the latch, there's a better chance it will open releasing the soap and allowing the sprays to get to the soap, etc. Otherwise, it sticks shut if not overfilled and closed properly. When I manually press to open, it opens fine (just a little gummy). Does it sound like it needs to be cleaned? or fixed?
Thanks for your help.

I cannot say.
I would remove it and try cleaning it to see if that will fix it.

Looking at the parts listing it appears that the dispenser is obsolete so tou may have to hunt around if you want to replace it.

Thanks "Denman". What do you recommend I use to clean it? Also, do I simply pry the whole thing off or are there screws? I don't see screws. Huge thanks!

To remove it you have to take the inside cover of the door off.
Take a look at item 8 in section 03. There are more views of it and a video.
As you can see there is not much that you can actually get at to clean.

I would start by cleaning around the dispenser door latch with a toothbrush and water perhaps that will loosen it up.
If there is still residue try vinegar as it may be calcium from the water.
