I have two central A/C units, both Ruud. One of them had the evap coils replaced last year (drip pan was leaking), and it blows very cold. The other one I believe has not been touched since the house was built in 1991, and it definately doesn't blow as cold. Also, the refrigerant lines don't feel like the system is working as hard (the hi press side isn't as warm leaving the compressor, and the low press side isn't as cold leaving the evap coils).
Bascially I'm thinking that the system just needs some more refrigerant, but it looks like you need a license to get R-22, so I can't do this myself.
Anyone know how much it would cost for a recharge? I live in So Cal.
Thanks!

The cost of recharging a unit usually depends on how low your system is 22 is mesured in lbs. so it is very hard to give you a correct figure im guessing being in so. cal with the dispatch call your probally looking @ around 300.00. Note the system will need 22 again and this may be an ongoing problem you may want to consider unit replacment to a more efficent unit seeing the age of the unit replace both the condensor and evaporator coil.
