The Belt on my dryer broke. I replaced it along with the Pulley Idler.
Now when I try to start it, it comes on but as soon as I release the start switch it stops. If I hold the start switch on for a few seconds, it continues to operate and starts to heat up.
Also as the drum rotates, there seems to be a 'rough spot' where it makes a slight bumping sound, like when your car goes over a small bump in the road.
I'm sure I did something wrong during the repairs but I don't know what or how to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Something to do with the idler pulley installation. The arm of the pulley assembly operates the "broken belt" switch. If the switch isn't being activated, you will get the symptoms you are having.

Thank you for your response. Could you point me to a diagram that shows the location of the 'broken belt' switch?
