The compressor, model # AS43U6, does not cool. It clicks. A new relay overload, part # VT-36RLY-OVLD is $72. How can I check the compressor windings before I buy a relay overload?

Would you recommend I try a manual start to eliminate compressor problems?

Not sure what you mean by a manual start?
Also I have no tech info on this unit so am not even sure itf it uses a start relay or a PTC starter. |

By manual start I mean manual momentary energize start coils to bypass automatic start coil energize. What is PTC starter? I am not familiar with this. Will manual start bypass PTC and check compressor function by directly applying power to the three terminals on the compressor. Power permanently on run coils and momentarily on start coils. Thanks for your help, it's invaluable.

What is PTC starter? A PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) is a solid state device instead of relay contacts to disconnect the start winding it uses the variable resistor to the start winding. As the resistor heats up it's resistance increases and this lowers the current to the start winding. |

Thanks for that info. I will try a manual start test before I decide how to proceed. I will get that done in the next few days and I will let you know how it went.

I disconnected the starter relay and tried the manual start. The compressor runs without overheating. Now I need a new starter. The one I took off the AS43U6 compressor has an ID# QP2-4.7G. Can you be any help in finding a new one? I will contact Appliancepartspros.com

Sorry but I do not know where you can get a new starter.
If AppliancePartsPros cannot help you try Gooling "starter QP2-4.7G". If nothing comes up try "QP247G starter" or just the number. |
