My dryer kept tripping the circuit breaker. It did this several times over a 3 week period. Now it wont start at all. I do have a light on in the dryer when I open the door but otherwise the dryer will not even start.

Would like to help. I need model # and brand. You need a volt ohm meter to help with troubleshooting.

I'm sorry I'm new here. Check to verify that you still have 220 volts at the plug. Be careful this is high voltage and it can kill you. If voltage is present check the dryer. Make sure you can move the drum by hand (with unit unplugged. If you can then remove the back cover of dryer and look for loose, cracked or burned wires. Unplug wire One side from element and check continuity. Look up wiring diagram on this page check all thermal devices for continuity. One of those is open. If the element is open then it will have to be replaced along with all the safety parts. There is also a thermal fuse that will open if the unit overheated several times. This will only disable the element. Door switch may also be defective.
