I have a dual fuel J-A stove, it came with the indoor grill option on the left hand side and was wondering if it's possible to jumper out/disable the fan when the left side is being used. I've since replaced the grill with stove top burners like the right side. It really zaps the heat being applied to whatever is being cooked...thanks, great site, glad to be here!

It should have a schematic on the tech sheet (inside the control console, or in an envelope attached to the back). You can see which fan wire to disconnect from the switch you want to disable on the wiring chart.

Thanks, I saw that but was concerned that it would disable the fan all together? Would that be the case? Don't really want to pull the whole range out if I don't have to.

On our SVD486000 dual fuel stove there are white switches mounted on the front of the gas valves. Just figure out which wires actuate the fan (verses the ignitor) and disconnect them. You will have to remove the top and front panels to get at the controls. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.. lol.

Remove the brown wires from both switches as shown in this picture. The fan will not come on when you turn on the gas but will work from the switch on the control panel.

I know this is an old thread, but if you are here because you installed a two burner replacement part for a Jenn-Air gas or dual fuel range in place of the grilling unit but the exhaust fan still comes on automatically when using the two new burners... Disregard the rewiring advice below!

There is a metal contact sensor to the front left of the basin where the new burner until drops in. it looks like a metal nub and is directly behind the far left or second left burner control valve, sticking out into the area beside where the striker and gas valves connect when you drop the new burner unit in place. If the original grill until was used much, this metal contact sensor is probably covered in soot or grease, preventing proper electrical contact with the new burner until. use steel wool or a Scotch Brite pad to scrub the end shinny clean for proper electrical contact. Then drop the new burner unit back in place. The exhaust fan will not come on automatically when these burners are in use anymore.

Happy four-burner cooking!

P.S. If you for any reason are still thinking about touching the wiring behind your range's control panel PLEASE unplug or throw the breaker in your electrical panel for the range before touching any wiring!!! This is a live unit with lots of metal parts around the wires so there is high potential for electrical arching and/or shock if you touch any of the control wiring while the unit is powered.

Thank you for your post that just solve a problem I was living with for 10 years lighting the two burners manually. The only thing is on mine it had a hole where the tab fits into form the metal catch pan. I just bent mine up a little through the hole with a knife so that the prong engaged the switch and that disengaged the blower motor. Thanks soo much
