Thanks for the responses. I just fixed the problem. The two screws were loose. I just canceled the repair person.

In the middle of writing a post asking for more help, I went back to the oven and tried again and it worked. Thanks so much for the instructions! While I am sure the job took me much longer than most, it is fixed now. Yay! :)

The upper oven light was my problem - wouldn't go out. This fix outlined above worked perfectly - just as described including where the missing screw would be found. Getting the metal vent panel out, after removing the 8 screws, was a little tricky. The top edge seems to be wedged in, but using a thin flat bladed screwdriver helps pry it out - the panel has to rotate down and then it can be removed. Fussing with it will do the trick - it definitely will come out after the 8 screws are removed.
When putting the screw(s) back in the switch, for each screw there are three holes in the assembly that need to be in alignment: the first is in the switch, then there is a thin piece of plastic insulating material with a hole in it for the screw to pass through, and then the threaded backing plate. Line up these three holes, put in the screw(s), and presto! This thread was a great find. Many thanks.

Thank you so much. I read a thread on a different site that talked about needing to replace an entire board on the oven. Then, I found this, tried it and it's fixed!! Saved a service call and/or an expensive part. Really, thank you so much.:)

Awesome!! My jennair accessed from the side panel, but exactly the same problem, the small screws loosened up to where it would not push the switch to turn off the light. Thanks so much for everyone's help!!

I attached two pictures of the front of my oven with the door open. It looks like the whole faceplate that surrounds the oven needs to come off. I started removing the screws by the pole that controls the light, and the light did go out when things got loosened, but I couldn't get that whole plate off. The first picture shows where the pole is in the upper right corner, and the second picture shows screws that connect from the side that aren't accessible. I'm not sure how to get in there.... carolappliance attached the following image(s):

Carol, that looks just like mine. I pulled out my stove and took off the right side panel and the switch was right there, all I had to do was tighten up the two screws that holds the switch in place. I also tried to take off the front panel first, the side panel was a piece of cake to take off and put back on. Once you get it off you will see the problem, it is pretty obvious.
