Hi. I have a Whirlpool RBS305PDB17 built-in single oven. Bake is not working. This unit has an electronic control. All other functions on the control appear to be working fine (broil, clean, etc.). My initial thought is that either the control overlay is not working for bake, or that the PCBA is not working completely. My question is, if the element is bad or a wire to the element shorted, would I still get some feedback when I press "Bake"? There is absolutely nothing when I press it. Thanks!

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool RBS305PDB17 Oven - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the tech sheet.

Try the bake temperature offset procedure in the tech sheet.
If it does nothing then you know it is either a control panel (keypad) or a control board problem.

Unfortunately they do not give the keypad key outputs so you cannot check it.
Out of the two options the control panel is the more likely.

You may want to try the following.
Connector Cleaning / Checking
Unplug the unit or remove power from it.
Open it up
Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board.
Clean the edge connector. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive.
Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here.
Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates.
Reconnect everything and give it a try.

Hi Denman! Thanks for the reply. I killed the power for a couple of minutes, but that didn't do it. I pulled the console and removed the ribbon cable and cleaned the leads. That didn't work either. I then held cancel for 5 seconds and got the error code F2 E1 which leads me to believe that it is the keypad. Would you agree? Thanks.

Yes that would be at the top of my list also.
Cannot be 100% sure but the odds are high.

If you get it from AppliancePartsPros and it does not fix the problem they will let you return it.
Please see their return policy.

Hi Denman,
It appears that the replacement console with overlay is out of stock, and it will be several weeks before they are available. I may be able to get my hands on the keypad/overlay that we feel is bad. This is an active overlay with ribbon cable to the control board. Any tips on just replacing the keypad? Thanks!
