My GE washer will not do the final spin and drain. Up to that point it functions normally.
At the time in question -- the final spin and the draining -- I hear only a hum. I once unplugged the pump at this stage of the washing and found that the humming noise ceased.
I have checked the pump for clogs, but found none. No other obstructions were found either, such as in the space between the tub and the plastic housing it sits in.
Also, when the time comes for the final spin and drain, it isn't that the motor is running and the tub isn't moving, but that the motor isn't turning at all.
But as I say, the motor and pump operate perfectly at other points in the washing.
Any ideas?

I installed a new timer and the problem remains. Any suggestions.

Final drain and spin is after the rinse cycle. So your saying it drains and spins ok after the wash cycle but not after the rinse cycle? Or does it not drain at all?

Exactly. It's only after the rinse cycle that the water doesn't drain and there is no spinning. At this stage, nothing is moving, not the main motor or the pump. I only hear a humming noise, which, as I said before, I noticed ceases when I disconnect the pump.

Well, it can't spin until it drains. The water level pressure switch must go back to the empty position before washer can go into spin. Check voltage at drain pump when it's humming. If around 120vac then either the pump is faulty or there is blockage somewhere in the drain hoses.
