Hello,
We've had this washer for many years, never a problem. Today, all of a sudden, it will not drain. I can, and did, drain it manually through the hose and into a bucket, so it's not clogged. The bucket was on the ground; the hose normally drains about 3-4 feet off the ground.
Water fills for the wash, and completes the wash cycle. I noticed it got stuck during the rinse cycle with all the water still in there.
After I got all the standing water out, I tried to get it to spin, but it wouldn't do that either. When I set it to rinse, it started to fill up again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If it will not spin even after you manually move the timer to the spin section, then try replacing the lid switch.

Hi I'm pretty unsophisticated. What exactly is the "lid switch" and how do you replace it? :) I have the exact same problem Have had the washer for years without a problem (going on 10 years :)

It this part here, and the video will show you how to replace it. Be sure and use your model number to the right lid switch for your machine.

Part number: AP3100001

Thank you. I actually stumbled across this site and video while I was trying to get info on the capacity of my recently broken washer. Saw that others were having a similar problem and read on. Decided to watch the video but not before calling my 13 year old daughter over to watch it with me. She felt comfortable with the instructions and so I ordered the part. Within 35 minutes she was done with the installation and upon plugging the machine back in it went into spin cycle and the little bit of water left in the machine drained right out. (Oops this mom never turned the dial to the off position).

Was thanked: 7 time(s) in 7 post(s)
Good job on fixing on your own. If you still want to know the capacity of the machine, measure in inches, the depth of the tub and the radius (1/2 the diameter). Multiply the radius squared X 3.14 X depth and divide the result by 1728 to get the capacity in cubic feet.
