So I replaced the coupler assembly today. Now the washer spins but won't agitate. It seems to skip the agitation cycle. It fills, but I can't get it to agitate.(I haven't let it go a full cycle. Usually I can "click" the control it by hand and advance it to the next step.) No noise, just seems to go directly to spin. According to another post, I "tested" the clutch. I can hold and stop the agitator fairly easily with my hand while the drum is spinning. Does this point to a failed clutch? With the age of the washer (about 17 yrs), not sure how much I should continue to put into it.

The clutch has nothing to do with agitation. It is normal to be able to stop the agitator by hand while in spin mode. After washer fills and it should be agitating, does the timer advance on it's own? If not, sounds like a faulty water level pressure switch. Place timer at one click before drain in the ultraclean cycle. This is a dry agitate function and should cause agitation even if tub is empty. If timer does advance during agitation cycle, then it's probably a faulty speed switch. Jump blue/white to orange wires on speed switch to verify.
