Recently the ice dispenser in our GE Profile Arctica stopped responding when we pushed the bar. There is no sound in either cube or crush setting but the water dispenser works normally. I see the LED for cube or crush dim when the dispenser light is on.

I have verified the auger motor has continuity and turns when I twist the auger drive by hand. From other customer feedback I see the main control board is a suspect, and that power cycling the refrigerator can make it go into complete failure. Is there anything else I should check before ordering a replacement main control board?

Hmm... I saw the thread by ralphl where the reply said the dimming light confirmed it. Time to order the board.

Job done - success! The LED no longer dims and the ice dispenser works again. Most of all, I no longer have a failing control board hanging over my head. BTW, as I suspected nearly all the electrolytic capacitors were bulging, a sign of age-related failure. (45 years in electronics.)
