Very loud grinding and burning rubber smell during wash/rinse cycle, goes away during spin, progressively worse last 2 weeks.

Operate it with the front panel off and observe what is happening with the motor and transmission while it is in agitate mode. I think you will find that the transmission is hung up and causing the motor to spin the belt and generate your burning smell.
