I have an electrolux dishwasher (model fdb1100rhco) that is just over a year old. The problem I am having is that the unit will fill with water and drain but won't spray, leaving the dishes dirty after the cycle.

Late to the party here, but...

I have a different model, but most are similar in function. The problem here is likely to be the "circulation pump" or motor. Check a parts diagram for the part number for your particular model. The inlet valve is involved with getting water into the washer, the pump moves the water through the spray arms. As long as you are getting the water into the washer, the circulation pump is the likely culprit here.
