Washer would not agitate or spin but did drain. I have watched LOTS of videos on how to fix the motor coupling. The machine is all opened up and I cannot get the pump off the shaft. What can I do? Do I bust it off and replace it as well? Since the machine is almost 10 (Dec this year) do I haul it off for recycling and get a new one?
Thanks, MissFixitMyself

That is a good machine. I would not get rid of it, it is well worth fixing. If you can't pry it off, you can either disconnect the hoses and pull the pump and motor together or bust it off and replace it. If you disconnect the hoses, there will be water in there so be prepared. Make sure when you replace the coupler that you use a socket and hammer to tap the new parts onto the motor shaft and transmission input shaft until they are flush with the ends of those shafts. Too many DIY'ers don't get them on far enough and that can ruin your motor in very short order.

Thanks, I think I'll try pulling the motor and pump together. At any rate, if it comes to it, the pump will be easier to bust off with the motor out.
I've looked in to the agitator to see about removing that and the bolt holding it look rather corroded. The ratchet tool wouldn't turn or do anything. I'd like to be able to clean it better between the two tubs. There are 3 cats and dog living in this house besides their humans and everybody contributes to the mess that ends up in the washer.
Thanks for the help... any more ideas?

Got the pump and motor off together, replaced the coupling being careful to tap it flush on the shaft mounts as per the note above and a couple of the videos I found on the internet, put everything back and test the agitator/spin function.... it works! Checked for a leak from the pump and didn't find one. Yay!
One of the plastic sides to the motor coupling had a split in the center of the ring preventing a good resistance on the shaft.
Tomorrow, scrub some of the corrosion off the metal framework, clean the pan under the washer, the floor, and try to get the fiddly cover back on right. It wobbles and is difficult to place exactly right.
I expect problems if I ever have to remove the whole agitator. The bolt holding it doesn't look good.
Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
