I have a Frigidaire upright freezer. On the temperature control on the outside of the door, the square lights by the Hi Temp/Door Ajar blinks red and is making a clicking sound. The Digital Temperature gauge that states 0 is off, and 7 is coldest blinks 8. I am unable to get it to reset and the light inside the freezer also is blinking on and off, on and off. I don't hear the compressor or any other part of the freezer coming on.

I have this similar issue, freezer occasionally will stop running, and the Door control board displays no number. I have to unplug & plug back in to get it to reset. When I open the door the inside light blinks in & out...strange.
Right now the temp is stable -2 to 1F, but I can't trust this freezer.

Repair guy I had here says try to replace the User Control Panel, what do you think?

I have a Frigidaire model GLFH21F8HWD freezer that is just under 5 years old that was showing 0F on the control panel (according to the manual the freezer will not cool while in this position) and the light blinks when the door is opened. Also, sounds like the compressor is cutting off and on. Service tech said the compressor checked OK, evaporator was not frozen over and door seal OK. Recommended replacing control panel. Installed new control panel and set temp for -2 degrees. Took almost 24 hours to reach that temp. Filled freezer with frozen food, however, temp jumped to 29 degrees and Hi Temp warning light came on. After several hours temp reached -2 degrees. Added unfrozen bread products and same problem again. Tried the Extreme Freeze option (control panel did not beep like the manual said) and display showed -F- which is the correct display. After several hours deactivated this feature and control panel displayed -19 degrees. Checked temp inside freezer with thermometer and it registered 15 degrees. Closed door and control panel showed -9 degrees. Service tech says the new control panel is probably faulty. Not certain what to do!!!

Check to make sure your freezer is level, these upright freezers have a real issue if they are not level. Cant slightly rearward so the door closes by itself & tightly. Mine acts up similarly, I think those electronic control panels are problematic but the manufacturer will never admit this. My old manual thermostat chest freezer just keeps on trucking.

Freezer is level with a slight tilt to the back so the door closes on its own. Also, have a 3" clearance in back and wide open on both sides. Door seal is tight with no indication of moisture or air flow around the seal. You actually have to wait a few seconds after the door is closed before you can easily reopen the door. I've been gone for 2 days. Left with the control showing 13 degrees and came back with it showing -2 degrees. Checked my inside thermometer temp and it registers about 15 degrees. Still don't know if the replacement control panel is bad or not?

We have the exact same issue with the same freezer model.
Was the issue due to a defective control panel?
Thanks in advance for sharing any information
